Yea this is right on. Also want to make sure you know how wide of an angle you need. Angle of view is the width of the security camera's view. You will not be able to see at a very wide view if you want to see father. So just remeber that the further out you need to see, the tighter the angle of view.

I.E.

1. Bullet camera 3.5mm lens - very vide

2. Bullet camera 4mm lens - still wide

3. Bullet camera 6mm lens - little tighter width

4. Bullet camera 8mm lens tight view

So the higher the lens number the small the field of view, this is very important depending on your environment and overall what you are trying to accomplish. Most residential and small business applications need very wide angle of view. If you have to see out really far, then you just need a camera with a good amount of infrared LED lights and a varifocal lens ranging from a 4mm to 9mm setting. That way you can play until you get the right setting and overall right video shot.

These are usually the most important issues when trying to select the right camera for what you want to see.
